Family Reunion

I recently took a trip up north to a small town called Graeagle on the Feather River for our annual family reunion. I have been going there my whole life and only just found the history of how the town came to be named "Graeagle". Legend has it that a sweet old lady won a raffle ticket at their local fair that gave her the privilege of naming their town. From then on the town, now population 800, was called Graeagle.

(I saw this deer every day in many different locations. One night she ran right in front of our cabin and stared at me for about thirty seconds. She seemed to always be where I was and let me get within five feet of her one day. We shall meet again next year. )

Ottawa and the Niagara Falls

I recently visited my great aunt and uncle, Eva and Bela, in Ottawa, Canada with my sister, Nicky. They are in their late 80s and are as sharp and active as ever. They took us on a eight hour journey to the Niagara Falls, as you will see in some of the following photographs.

About this Project

This project is a documentation of my revisit to the darkroom. I began formal photography classes at the age of fourteen and was immediately drawn to it's form of expression. I continued practicing throughout high school and spent much of those years in the darkroom. In college I minored in photography and worked with many forms of photography.

I have now been out of school for several years and have decided to to revisit the darkroom. I stepped away from photography for a couple of years (not for any profound reason other than work, life etc.), but have recently found my way back to it.

My equipment is as follows--Nikon FE camera with a Vivitar 21mm lens for now. I have been processing my own film using Clayton developer, stop, and fixer, and use Kodak photo flo.

I am currently scanning my negatives but am in the process of setting up the rest of my darkroom so I can also print.

I hope you enjoy!
